Clackamas Community College (CCC) at the Oregon City, Oregon campus seeks to hire a full-time Career Services Coordinator. Purpose of Position:

The Career Services Coordinator position, in conjunction with the supervisor, provides direction, scheduling and training for identified staff and assists in managing the daily office work to promote career services and planning among students, alumni, employers, staff, and community members. This position will work directly with individuals seeking career guidance and information as well as collaborate with academic departments and local employers to coordinate job and employer events, host workshops, and initiatives related to preparing students and alumni for employment and careers. This position will also coordinate of the Colleges Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) program, which includes supporting students and department with worksite and job placements through strong employer relations.

Essential

Job Functions:
  • Career Center Daily Operations (50% of Time)
    • Lead, coordinate and monitor daily operations of the career center and staff including scheduling, check-in processes, tracking, and service delivery.
    • Assist students by appointment or drop-in basis via Zoom, phone, email, or in person; with career exploration through use of current assessment tools, job search, resumes, cover letters, career resources, etc.
    • Advise a cohort of undecided students to support their exploration of available educational and career options and guide them towards identifying their academic and career goals.
    • Delegate and assign work to part-time Career Services Specialist and student workers, interns, and peer assistants as needed.
    • Maintain career services software tools (e.g. College Central Network & Career Coach) and utilize all available college software systems to track services offered, participation levels, and generate quarterly reports as requested and as part of annual assessment processes.
    • Develop content, materials, presentations and workshops to support students with career development and employment and facilitate information sessions and trainings to large and small groups, in-person and via Zoom.
    • Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner via phone, email, and drop-in services in a friendly customer service oriented manner.
    • Collaborate with other departments including Marketing and Communications and Student Life and Leadership to promote Career Services activities and events on all available communication channels including web, print, virtual, and social media.
    • Serve as a resource for students from diverse and underserved backgrounds to assist with and advocate for the removal of institutional barriers that impact academic and professional success with sensitivity and awareness.
    • In conjunction with the Director, develop, maintain, and update career center policies and procedures.
  • Employer Services (30% of Time)
    • Coordinate and lead the planning for employer engagement events including job and career fairs, employer presentations, and on-campus hiring events.
    • Collaborate with instructors in other departments on campus to support the college's employer engagement and relationship development efforts.
    • Assist employers with meeting their needs by connecting them to key departments on campus.
    • Develop flyers, handouts, packets for employers/businesses that describe our services.
  • Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) Support (20% of Time)
    • Coordinate and market CWE program and services to employers, College staff, and students.
    • Facilitate quarterly meetings with faculty and department staff to train and educate on internal and external procedures to ensure compliance with state standards
    • Ensure the College is compliant with State policies related to work-based learning/internships/CWE and help the College develop policies and procedures as needed
    • Assist students with the CWE registration process
    • Provide support to students to help them find and secure CWE sites through the develop of strong employer relationships Ensuring appropriate archiving and record-keeping of CWE documents, which includes but is not limited to quarterly workers compensation reports, student worksite agreements and learning outcomes, etc.

General Job Functions:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
  • Participate in college committees when requested.
  • Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Maintain student confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related college, state, and federal standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and at least three years' experience coordinating work within an office environment. OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.
  • Thorough knowledge of career development and readiness principles and practices, registration processes, and relationships between various levels of education and business partners.
  • Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, internet, and email applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to disseminate complex information to small and large groups with proper mechanics in the English language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including successful collaboration, customer service and public speaking.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with enrollment and admissions processes and/or advising and career services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with English language learners.
  • Knowledge of FERPA requirements.
  • Experience working with veteran and/or first-generation college students.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish with experience presenting information to small and large groups in this language.
  • Master's degree in Education, Student Affairs, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Global Career Development Facilitator Certificate.
  • Strong Interest Inventory Certified

Working Conditions:
  • The position requires minimal (20-40%) ability to use dexterity and fine motor skills assemble, build or repair machines or other objects. Frequent (51-80% of the time) use of office equipment.
  • The position requires minimal (5-20%) physical effort such as lifting, carrying, or movement, etc. Movements required to complete work are not difficult, and only require some degree of agility and hand eye coordination.
  • The work environment is usually well-protected, with minimal hazards or obstacles (5-20%). There is little or minimal element of personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are usually comfortable, with minimal (5-20%) issues of confinement, temperature change, incident of noise, or interactions of a disagreeable nature, inside/outside work, dirty conditions, exposure to contagious disease, etc. Position may have minimal responsibility for driving.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of others is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.

Work under the direction of the Director of the Student and Academic Support Services.

Terms of Employment:
  • This primarily in-person position will staff the Oregon City Campus, Career Center, Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with Friday currently being a remote student services day.
  • This is a Classified Staff, Non-Exempt Position
