Essential Job Duties
The Retirement Database Specialist serves as the subject matter expert for maintaining all daily operational duties for the enrollment of the Teachers and State Employees Retirement System and UNC ORP retirement plans for eligible employees.
The responsibilities of the Specialist include but are not limited to:
- Maintains the ORP database in compliance with UNC System Office instructions and procedures
- Communicates in a timely manner with eligible employees on concerns related to the TSERS and ORP plans
- Receives and processes retirement plan election forms to include ORP-1 Form with the vendor of choice (Fidelity or TIAA CREF) within the first 60 days of employment
- Sends/tracks required communication to new or transferring employees in reference to retirement plan selection within determined deadlines monthly
- Receives and processes ORP-3 Forms upon employees’ termination
- Runs reports during payroll lockout to identify any enrollment issues and make corrections
- Responsible for data entry for post-tax benefit plans and other plans as may be necessary
A hybrid schedule is available but the schedule will be determined after the training.

Minimum Experience/Education
High school or equivalent degree and experience in a Human Resources related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
