Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
In the A. James Clark School of Engineering, the Dean’s Office Graduate Affairs team 12 month full-time (20 hours) Graduate Administrative Assistant to assist with administrative duties, running events, project support, and general support activities for the success and well-being of ENGR graduate students. This GAA will likely need to perform effectively and independently in a remote environment while making availability to assist with on campus events.
Primary duties and responsibilities of this position include (but not limited to):
- Make weekly updates to Graduate Affairs resource webpages
- Assist with event planning and execution
- Undertake basic data analysis projects
- Assist with data collection, entry, and reporting activities
- Assist in drafting/editing communications for Graduate Affairs team
- Assist in managing a central email account
- Support basic Dean’s Office operations or other events on request

Education:
This position is only open to current, University of Maryland College Park graduate students in a degree-seeking program.
Experience:
Experience working with diverse populations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft and Google products.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact, especially involving students.
- Able to take directions and execute assigned tasks with accuracy.
Preferences:

- Project & event organization experience.
- Experience in supporting student success in higher ed. settings.
- Interest and experience in self-driven projects to support/improve graduate education.
- Background in teaching, customer service, or other public-facing experience involved with communicating with or assisting students/the public/etc., especially working with diverse populations in regards to gender, sexuality, disability, ethnicity, national origin.
- Strong competency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Basic webpage content management abilitiy.
