Job Description

GRADUATE ASSISTANT, SOCIAL INNOVATION, Priscilla King Gray (PKG)Public Service Center (part-time, 10-19 hrs/wk.), to support the assistant dean for social innovation in all aspects of social innovation programming. Precise tasks will depend on workflow and the skills and interests of the chosen applicant but responsibilities will include assisting with the design, planning, coordination, and implementation of PKG's social innovation programs; designing, developing, and implementing on-campus and external outreach efforts; assisting with reviewing applications and making collaborative decisions regarding grant awards; assisting with identifying and developing cross-campus partnerships and serving as a liaison for relevant offices, departments, and groups; increasing campus awareness of social innovation programming; supporting student social innovators and entrepreneurs through holding office hours and attending workshops; assisting with database and platform maintenance for reporting and communications; and supporting PKG's pre-orientation program for incoming undergraduate students interested in exploring social innovation.  

REQUIRED:  current enrollment in a master’s degree program in higher education, social work, or related field; support for the center’s commitment to diversity and willingness to work with a highly diverse student population; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information and documents; and willingness to learn platforms such as Google Drive, Canva, Canvas, and Airtable.  Job #22783-1

Hiring rate: $17.50/hr.

2023-2024 academic calendar:

Summer:                                  June 12 - August 31

Fall semester:                           September 1 - December 22

Independent Activities Period:  January 8 - January 29

Spring semester:                      February 2 - May 31

Will work a hybrid work schedule, 16 to 19 hours/week, both in-person at the PKG Center office and remotely.  Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends (2-4x/month).

The start date will be between July and September 1, 2023, with an end date of approximately June 1, 2024, with the possibility of extension.

While MIT will not sponsor a visa, applicants who have “nonimmigrant status” (such as F-1 student on approved OPT with written permission from their sponsoring institution/program with an approved I-765 Work Authorization) may be considered.
