SENIOR PROGRAM ASSISTANT, Chemical Engineering (ChemE)-Practice School, to support the ChemE Practice School Program and its director in coordinating all operational aspects. In this unique Master’s degree program, students, after completing two semesters of coursework, are assigned in groups to work at industrial sites or ‘stations’ for two months each at two different sites. Will ensure that each Practice School station, established every term, occurs as planned and according to schedule. Responsibilities include collecting student requests to participate and maintaining a tracking spreadsheet; making student assignments; coordinating orientation meetings; working with teaching assistants on course preparation materials; managing frequent unanticipated obstacles that may occur while students are in stations; acting as the point person for communication; handling logistics involved with getting students and station directors to and from stations; understanding visa policies and cultural principles for areas of the world where students are assigned; guiding students and station directors through program procedures; collecting, collating, and distributing evaluations; attending and taking notes at annual advisory board meetings; submitting travel expense reports; providing general administrative support as needed; and collecting and entering grades.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; five years’ relevant administrative and program management experience; experience in academic programs and administration; excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to quickly meet short turn-around times; and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ability and desire to learn new software applications. Seek a serviceoriented professional who is able to multitask and perform hands-on work in a teambased environment.
