Position Summary:
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a part-time Welding Lab Assistant who will assist in and around the welding lab and keeping the lab safe. The Welding Lab Assistant, under direct supervision of faculty members, performs routine standardized laboratory work requiring close attention to detailed procedures in the preparation and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment, inventory and requisition of supplies, assisting faculty in supervision of students assigned to laboratories, and other related duties and is employed on an individual academic term basis.
Chosen candidate must be able to work mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday.
Required Education/Experience:
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience/proficiency in the use of manual and semi-automatic welding equipment
- Extensive knowledge of safety procedures as it pertains to welding, cutting, and brazing
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
- Experience using Auto CAD or similar CAD software
- Relavant certificates, licenses

Duty and Responsibility:
Maintaining supplies and equipment for laboratories and/or stock rooms
Duty and Responsibility:
Assisting faculty with the preparation and administration of student assignments

Maintaining inventory in supply cribs, generation of supply order for Lead Instructor

Assisting in the development and enforcing of safety practices in the instructional laboratories

Preparation of materials and machinery for lab exercises.
- Prepare metal for lab exercises using a grinder and plasma track torch
- Maintain welding booths, demo stations and tool storage organized and in good working order for student use

Maintain a clean and safe work area.
