SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT, Student Financial Services (SFS), to report to the manager of accounting and finance and provide the highest level of accounting services to ensure that students' and alumni's financial records are accurate. Will play a critical role in upholding the fiscal integrity of SFS. Responsibilities will include managing all financial aspects of an assigned accounting portfolio, reconciling accounts in multiple internal and external systems, identifying and correcting errors and discrepancies in financial systems, maintaining expert-level business knowledge of MIT’s student accounts and various funding channels and processes, and collaborating with both internal SFS and external business partners. Other will duties include generating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses; quickly meeting short turn-around times; and performing hands-on work in a team-based work group.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least three years’ experience in financial operations, including accounting and account reconciliation; thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant federal regulations; excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; sound judgment and discretion with confidential information; experience with financial systems, reporting, and analysis; ability to work with minimal supervision and ensure the timely delivery of all assignments; collaborative approach to work; and proficiency with Office 365 and pivot tables. Salary range: $61,850 – 80,000
