Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of the position is to contribute to platform development, operational support, and research activities related to the NSF AERPAW platform.
In particular, the position will
- Work on research and development with software-defined radios and unmanned aerial systems
- Collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students and other researchers
- Develop technical papers and funding proposals in collaboration with other faculty
- When needed, participate in relevant department and/or university service activities.
Other Responsibilities
- Carry out research and development related to unmanned aerial vehicle communications and networks, 5G/6G wireless systems, and wireless security;
- Contribute to development efforts with software-defined radios and other commercial wireless equipment to support experiments in AERPAW;
- Assist in AERPAW platform operations and outreach for supporting experiments carried out by AERPAW's users and for bringing new users to the platform;
- Develop conference and journal drafts and contribute to writing grant proposals related to AERPAW;
- Collaborate with graduate/undergraduate students and other faculty to carry out research and experiments in the NSF AERPAW platform.
Minimum Education and Experience
• Ph.D. (or relevant degree), or
• Relevant Master’s degree with at least 5 years of formal
post-degree professional work experience, or
• In rare instances, an individual with a comparable professional
experience but less than a master’s degree, plus 8 years of
exceptional relevant professional experience will be considered.
Other Required Qualifications
Verifiable experience in published research and in consulting or interdisciplinary collaboration. Research scholars are not expected to develop teaching programs. However, scholarly activity appropriate to the individual’s research, consulting, or interdisciplinary collaboration responsibilities is expected.
