1. Thorough understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of the North Carolina Community College System 
2. Understanding of life sciences workforce needs and the role of the community college in developing talent;  
3. Ability to engage employers and stakeholders to improve non-credit-bearing training and create credit-bearing educational opportunities for the life sciences field;  
4. Understanding of and sensitivity to educational needs and challenges of at-risk and non-traditional students, including students of color, students from low-income backgrounds, international students, and first-generation college students;  
5. Knowledge of digital learning tools and the ability to select teaching methods appropriate for the life sciences industry;  
6. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum design, adult learning principles, and effective assessment strategies;  
7. Ability to produce instructional materials for both students and instructors;  
8. Knowledge of copyright and trademark rules for writing and delivering content and graphics and knowledge of ADA compliance;  
9. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals;  
10. Ability to ask appropriate questions, probe for understanding, and work in collaboration with others to achieve desired results;  
11. Ability to collaborate with subject-matter experts to develop accurate, relevant content;  
12. Evidence of good organizational skills and time management skills; ability to be flexible and solve problems;  
13. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment;  
14. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and to make effective presentations to a variety of audiences; and

Essential Functions

Job Duties

1. Update training, instructional, and curriculum materials on a consistent basis.
2. Differentiate instructional content or delivery methods for students and different classroom environments levels or types of learners.
3. Make recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options.
4. Evaluate and revise training materials such as texts, outlines, and handouts.
5. Work collaboratively with college faculty and staff, stakeholders, university partners, and industry partners to develop course materials for the Life Sciences programs.
6. Work collaboratively with the Corporate Services and Work-Based Education and Apprentice departments to establish a work-based learning curriculum and customized training for Life Sciences.
7. Work closely with the Program Director, instructors, and other stakeholders to formulate training approaches and materials to build courses that meet clearly defined objectives, reach multiple audiences, take advantage of learning technologies and build powerful learning solutions that combine solid design, rapid development, and creative delivery.
8. Participate in recruitment campaigns at middle and high schools.
9. Create educational pathways for all levels of students from high school to university and employment.
10. Serve on committees, workgroups, taskforces, and other college-related committees.
11. Foster a culture and environment where local, regional, and national employers will look to the College as an exceptional source of responsive, nimble, and flexible training for employees in Life Sciences.
12. Represent the college at community and outside organization functions; and
13. Perform additional duties as assigned by the program director, dean and/or president.
