TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to work in the laboratory of Professor Robert Desimone. The research focuses on the use of marmoset primates as a model for social neuroscience. Will primarily be responsible for collecting behavioral, cognitive, and neural data from marmosets alongside researchers; organizing and annotating the collected data; the construction, testing, and calibration of laboratory equipment; ordering and keeping stock of supplies; supportive tasks in lab management and basic housekeeping; general experimental support; and data organization. Will be trained in all of these tasks. Will also be responsible for coordinating schedules between researchers, veterinarians, and staff; participating in the care of animals; MRI imaging and adjacent clinical care; providing support in phases of primate neurosurgery, including animal recovery, tool preparation, sterilization, and cleanup; working closely with lab manager and serving as laboratory environmental health and safety representative, attending monthly meetings and ensuring compliance with animal care and safety protocols; training new personnel; and performing other requested duties. There will also be opportunities to design experiments and write code to analyze data if interested.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in animal sciences, biology, neuroscience, or a related field; two years of relevant lab research experience, including work with animals; excellent organizational and communication skills; initiative; meticulous attention to detail; flexibility; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; and ability to lift weights of up to 20 lbs. over one’s head.
