ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATOR, Physics, to oversee the administration of all academic and student programs. Will serve as a primary resource to faculty, staff, and students on academic programs, degree requirements, and educational policies/procedures; supervise administration of the undergraduate program, including advisor assignments, transfer credit approvals, double major advising, UROP coordination, degree audits, disability and conflict exams, and end-of-year awards; supervise the administration of the graduate program, including recruitment, coordination of admissions, advising, orientation, registration, degree audits, thesis submission, and end-of-year awards; serve as advisor to the Physics Graduate Student Council; coordinate course management, including catalog submissions/edits/approvals, course scheduling, evaluations, and IAP offerings; manage educational databases; prepare educational statistics and reports; provide information to prospective undergraduate and graduate students; maintain educational archives; serve as recorder and member of the department’s Education Committee, overseeing the implementation and coordination of committee decisions; publish “Undergraduate Degree Requirements”, “Doctoral Guidelines”, and “Education Guidelines for Faculty and Teaching Staff;” liaise with academic offices throughout the Institute; work as a member of the departmental management team in establishing and implementing its strategic plan; supervise five academic staff members; and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in related area, e.g., academic administration, counseling, or student affairs administration; at least three years’ experience in an academic environment; attention to detail; ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment; excellent interpersonal skills; an interest in working closely with department members to ensure the success of students and academic programs; and computer skills and proficiency with database management.
