Minimum Qualifications
Must meet one or more of the qualifications listed below:
• Electrical License
• Has completed a formal apprenticeship training program
• Has documented 14,000 electrical hours and have passed the Journey-level worker exam.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Planning, conducting, and assessing classroom instructional activities in proper use of hand and power tools, and equipment, measurements and drawings, mortar, and residential installation of simple brick and block projects.
2. Knowledge and understanding of relevant disciplines, including basic masonry materials and installation. This includes mixing mortar and installing bricks and cinder blocks, procedures for building corner leads, hogging out, and laying to the line.
3.Knowledge of proper clothing, safety, tool use and maintenance.
4.Ability to establish, maintain, and promote effective communication and interpersonal relations across departmental lines, with associates, as well as with the business community, the higher education community, and the general public;
5.Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and expectations of students, faculty, staff and advisory or community groups
6.Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.
7.Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
8.Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action
9.Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Essential Functions
1. The adjunct instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, and record keeping.
2. Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction
3. Enforce academic policy and procedures, and comply with institutional rules and regulations.
4. Assume responsibility for lab/ classroom prep, including maintenance and clean-up.
5. Instructors must communicate, (verbally and in writing) with the training director and committee regarding apprenticeship progress, potential problems and supply needs. Problems with any student shall and must be documented in writing and submitted to the training director.
6. Must routinely update skills, attend necessary instructor education classes and insure that all instructor materials are current and accurate.
7. Must be a role model for the apprentices. (Be punctual and remain for entirety of class. Keep cell phone use to break times or emergency purposes only. Must work as a team member for the betterment of the organized electrical industry
8. Must promote a good work ethic: getting to work on time, trying to find productive work to do, working safely, helping others, extending respect and helping others regardless of position or skill level, working up until it is time to leave, keeping breaks to the allotted time.
9. Must promote finding solutions and being a problem solver, not hashing over and rehashing problems.
