Summary

The Kleer laboratory is seeking a research technician with basic experience in a biology field (e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, bioengineering).  The primary role will be to conduct breast cancer research in a specialized research laboratory.  The candidate will assist more senior laboratory personnel with their tasks. This position is an excellent opportunity to work in a collegial, collaborative cancer translational environment and is especially suitable for a candidate who aspires to make a significant contribution to the breast cancer research field.

Responsibilities*

• Reviews progress and evaluates results under direct supervision of more senior lab personnel. Collaborates with other lab members as needed.
• Conducts analysis of data, interprets and implements research methodology based on outcome of analysis.
• Organizes, condenses, and presents findings at laboratory meetings.
• Aids with manuscript writing.

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's degree and advanced college studies in biology or a related biological field, along with statistics
• Some upper-level college courses, including statistics
• Previous experience working in a laboratory environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficient in the Microsoft office suite
• Ability to work as a team player, with a positive attitude

Desired Qualifications*

• Experience in molecular biology

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
