TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to perform multidisciplinary neuroscience research in the Harnett Lab. The lab aims to understand how the biophysical properties of neurons give rise to the cortical computations that guide mammalian behavior. The position will contribute to one or more ongoing research projects and offers the opportunity to develop an independent research component. Responsibilities will include a subset of the following: behavioral experiments, neuronal recording/imaging, surgery, histology, microscopy, and image processing. Additional responsibilities could include data analysis and computational modeling.

REQUIRED: a scientific or engineering bachelor’s degree; at least two years of experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate and/or doing post-graduate work; basic programming and quantitative reasoning skills; excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills; and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. PREFERRED: experience with rodent research, electrophysiology or functional imaging, statistical data analysis, signal processing, and/or computational modeling in Python or MATLAB. Job #22304
