Under the supervision of the Director of the Museum (and Senior Manager LSA Units), the Chief Administrator (CA) provides leadership and day-to-day management of the operational side of the museum aligned with the museum’s mission and strategic plan and initiatives. The individual in this position manages a multi-disciplinary staff of staff professionals working collaboratively with curators, archaeologists, and research scientists employed at the Kelsey Museum. This position will supervise the professional staff within the unit and well as coordinate facility operations with DPSS security and custodial staff.
Working closely with the Director and Associate Director, this position will have primary responsibility for planning and priority setting for museum operations as well as strategic budget decisions. This position will oversee and work closely with the business office and LSA business analyst to oversee the budget and to ensure that the Museum is following College and University best practices related to financial and HR management.
The Chief Administrator also has supervisory responsibility for the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs. This role acts as the Museums representative over a wide range of University and community constituents. The individual will work closely with the Director and Associate Director to expand foundation and government support for the Museum through and will work collaboratively with LSA Development on any fundraising activities.

Oversight of daily museums operations through supervision of staff including the administration office and other professional museum staff positions, outreach and programming activities. Management of unit activities related to security, facility, and custodial, as well as oversight of building activities including LSA upgrade and building endowment projects.
Strategic partnership with Director on major planning, priority setting, overall management and museum operations. Participate in major budget decisions in conjunction with Director.
Support unit grant activities with MLB support and monitoring. Oversee marketing and development activities in conjunction with LSA Development, Marketing, & Communications partners and the Museum Director and Associate Director.
3-5 years administrative responsibility including staff supervision, facilities and budget management is required. 3-5 years of budgetary experience and research grants. Demonstrated success in leading and managing people and programs in complex non-profit organizations. Ability to develop and execute strategic plans, excellent writing, and verbal skills.

Experience working in academic setting. Experience in a public facing unit. Experience leading diverse and creative teams. Experience in museum practices. An advanced degree or equivalent experience in museum management or a museum related field.
Note: Anticipated salary in the $75,500 to $94,100 range with higher salary possible for well qualified candidates.
