EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI RELATIONS AND VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE, Alumni Association (MITAA), to provide leadership and oversight to the Office of Alumni Relations, planning and executing strategy and vision related to alumni engagement. Will formulate and implement comprehensive and innovative alumni relations programs and volunteer support services that utilize MIT’s rich and varied resources and offers value to its nearly 145,000 alumni.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; ten years’ direct alumni relations, fundraising, or volunteer leadership development experience in a nonprofit setting; comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of alumni relations practices; four years’ experience supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance and budgets; senior leadership experience and ability to define a vision, develop strategic plans, and successfully lead a team toward the fulfillment of goals; excellent interpersonal, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills; comfort and cultural sensitivity when engaging alumni; track record of building strong teams in a complex organization (preferably within a research university setting) and improving staff effectiveness through established objectives, performance standards, and accountability; ability to create a work environment that builds confidence, promotes diversity and inclusion, celebrates achievements, and encourages teamwork; ability to analyze and evaluate data and implement metrics; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; understanding of and experience with alumni engagement software; and experience working with and motivating volunteers. Must be able to build and sustain effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders, influence senior colleagues, and advocate for and secure resources supporting MITAA’s agenda; serve as a primary face of MIT to alumni, potentially large benefactors, and leading volunteers; and engage small and large audiences.
