Position Summary
The Law School Financial Aid Assistant will support a busy office of financial aid professionals in all aspects of law school financial aid including office reception, notifications, communications and administration.
Essential Functions
- Assists with most aspects of the administration and operation of the Law School’s Financial Aid Office.
- Provides the first line of communication with current and prospective students, handling student inquiries in person, by e-mail and phone in coordination with other staff members.
- Monitors students’ accounts and contacts them regarding documents needed, problems in processing of their federal financial aid.
- Creates and maintains spreadsheets and reports concerning student documents, statuses.
- Resolves financial aid issues, contacting and working with the University’s Student Enrollment Services Department when necessary.
- Maintains confidential student files for current students and for 3 years after graduation.
- Inputs the updates on the Financial Aid website and the Law School’s LawNet in coordination with other staff members.
- Provides general clerical support and related duties.
- Works until 6:00 p.m. 2-3 nights a week.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Clerical experience in a college/university setting preferred with a minimum of two years of experience.
- Well organized and an independent worker able to follow through on projects and assignments with little supervision.
- Excellent inter-personal skills; must be able to represent the Financial Aid Office to Law Students, both prospective and enrolled.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerFAIDS; familiarity with Banner database system.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated Writing Ability.
- Mandatory Competency Testing.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
