Position Summary:
The Coordinator – Rowan County Fire Training / Instructor will plan, organize, and deliver instruction of NC Firefighter courses to students enrolled in the High School Fire Academy consistent with the goals, policies, and procedures of the college and NC OSFM. The Coordinator will also be responsible for managing and scheduling the Fire Grounds, buildings and props.
Faculty Required Education/Experience Skills:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Five years of fire service experience and fire years certified as a NC Basic EMT.
- Two years of fire education/training experience.
- OSFM NC Firefighter Instructor Qualification and OSFM NC Hazardous Materials Instructor Qualification within six months of hire.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience in training/education students. Experience in an administrative/supervisory roll.

Manages and schedules the Fire Training Grounds, buildings, and props.

Ensure course offerings are approved and follow DOI, OSFM or other regulatory agency requirements along with college policy and adopted safety standards during training and ensures compliance through administrative oversight for OSFM.

Supervises and communicates with Fire Training Coordinators regarding scheduling, inventory, maintenance, and any responsibilities necessary for the Fire Training Grounds to operate smoothly.

Evaluate and provide feedback on student performance in an objective, regular, consistent, and timely manner while maintaining accurate class records and management reports for submittal.

Promotes the RCCC High School Fire Academy and other RCCC Fire Training programs including the Fire Protection Technology Program through community involvement (information sessions, High School visits and other community programs.
