General Summary
Pharmacy Technician Part-Time Instructor – Odessa, TX, Andrews, TX & Pecos, TX
We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Technician Part-Time Instructor who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service. The responsibility of a Continuing Education Instructor is to provide the most effective instruction possible in his/her discipline. The Continuing Education Instructor works to ensure that his/her instruction is meeting the educational needs of all students. Continuing Education Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity, contingent upon the needs of the department. Classes are offered during daytime, evenings, and weekends as well as some College holidays. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year as well as at various campuses and offsite. Candidates must be certified as a pharmacy technician and have at least 3 years of work experience. Teaching experience is not required, but any teaching and/or training experience is considered. Instructor will use Blackboard in addition to face-to-face teaching. The class will be held in the evenings, twice a week from 6-9pm. There is no student clinical externship. Position is strictly part-time with a maximum of 19 hours per week. Continued employment is contingent on enrollment per term.
Specific Position Duties
• Teaches the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus and catalog and relates the instruction to careers and employer expectations.
• Implements evaluation for outcomes assessment, and achieves established results while maintaining college standards of student satisfaction.
• Works creatively and collaboratively with classes to ensure student persistence.
• Begin and end each class at the designated times, providing a full period of instruction.
• Responsible for keeping the classroom and/or laboratory clean, organized, and ready for the next user.
• Provide support to students requiring additional academic assistance and tutoring.
• Submits at designated times, grades for all students on the class roster.
• Accurately maintains attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy, submits class roster daily, maintains a separate record of attendance and grades that is clearly labeled and turned in at the end of the term.
• Calls all students who are absent and submits written reports of pertinent information to the Program Director.
• May be required to attend adjunct instructor trainings, in-service meetings, and other college events.
• Other duties as assigned.
