The Department of Animal and Avian Sciences is seeking an individual to provide leadership in Extension activities and applied research to benefit the poultry industry in Maryland, which is the largest agricultural industry in the State.
The successful candidate will be expected to substantially contribute to Extension efforts in the State and to work closely with the poultry industry and Extension agents. The candidate will be expected to maintain an extramurally funded Extension and applied research program, and will have ample opportunities for intra-departmental collaboration with ANSC faculty members (http://www.ansc.umd.edu/people/faculty).
The applied research program is open to any discipline within poultry science, including nutrition, health, management, welfare, genetics and physiology. Poultry facilities to support an applied research program are operated by the Department and by the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station (https://ansc.umd.edu/research/research-centers).
Teaching responsibilities include instruction of Commercial Poultry Management at the undergraduate level, every other year, and the training and mentoring of graduate students.
The Department of Animal and Avian Sciences has a steadfast commitment to excellence and seeks to be a national leader in education and research in animal sciences.
