Executive Officer of Special Projects

The Position
The University of New Mexico Foundation is seeking an Executive Officer of Special Projects. The Executive Officer serves as the lead for complex or high-level long or short-term projects as assigned by the President/CEO or other members of the UNM Foundation’s executive team. Projects may include but are not limited to real estate management, acquisition, and sales; management and sale of complex gifts such as art and royalty interests; and projects with strategic or organization-wide impact.

Primary Responsibilities
- Leads and manages to completion projects as assigned by the President/CEO or other members of the executive team, with a high level of skill and independence.
- Analyzes internal resources and expertise to recommend external vendors and contractors as necessary to complete assigned projects.
- Works in collaboration with Foundation leadership, University partners, various constituencies and third parties in connection with assigned projects.
- Forecasts and manages costs associated with assigned projects and assists with preparing budget requests as needed.
- Reports regularly to the President/CEO, General Counsel, or other members of executive team on status of assigned projects.
- Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures, backgrounds and/or beliefs.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Foundation by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently from start to completion.
- Superior organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Demonstrated success in developing relationships with external subject matter experts when needed.
- High-level research and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal management, particularly in connection with project funding.
- Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Foundation by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution OR a combination of some higher education and two years of relevant experience.
- Project management education or experience preferred.
- Experience in real estate management and/or real estate sales preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- This position is eligible for remote and/or a hybrid work schedule.
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times, with or without assistance such as a dolly or cart
- Frequently moves boxes by hand or with the use of a dolly or cart
- May be required, on occasion, to drive personal vehicle for job-related business.
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours, as necessary.
Other Requirements
Must be able to drive personal vehicle for University and Foundation business (mileage reimbursed) and hold a valid driver’s license with current insurance, and a clean driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of criminal, driving record, and employment background screening. Some positions may also require credit background screening as well.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year based on experience
