Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS) is hiring two (2) Senior Financial Coordinators; coordinating the day-to-day financial, budget, accounting and travel coordination functions for non-sponsored projects at the Lab, ensuring that that resources are well managed, accurately reported and comply with federal and state regulations as well as University of Maryland policies and procedures. Responsibilities include serving as the Lab’s, lead procurement coordinator, lead consultant contract coordinator, and lead human subject payment and tuition payments coordinator. Other responsibilities include providing financial reports and data analysis. The Senior Financial Coordinator will work as a liaison to units throughout campus, including but not limited to, the Comptroller’s Office, Accounts Payable and Procurement. As a member of the Finance Team, the Senior Financial Coordinator will assist in all financial areas of the department as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education(include licenses, certifications, etc.):
- Bachelor Degree required;
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in accounting, budgeting, finance analysis or auditing.
- Experience in financial analysis, creating reports and summaries.
- In depth experience with Kuali financial system, functions and data elements and other accounting systems.
- Prior experience in forecasting and analysis
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven ability to analyze financials, develop plans and ensure successful and efficient implementation of processes.
- Ability to take initiative, analyze problems, prepare and articulate solutions. Ability to prepare complex budgets for multi-year interdisciplinary projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated diplomacy.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with overlapping deadlines. Demonstrated skills using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word.
- Ability to work independently on complex assignments to include providing significant input in response to RFP or ROM requests.
- Demonstrate diplomacy and ability to interact effectively with all staff levels within the organization and its customers.
- Ability to analyze problems, prepares, and articulates solutions.
