The James Irvine Foundation is a private, nonprofit grantmaking foundation dedicated to expanding opportunity for the people of California. The Foundation’s vision is a California where all low-income workers have the power to advance economically. Since 1937, the Foundation has provided more than $2.2 billion in grants to organizations throughout California. The Foundation ended 2021 with more than $3.8 billion in assets and provided $128.9 million in grants. We have about 80 staff across our San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. The Foundation is committed, internally and externally, to the values of accountability, curiosity, empathy, equity, nimbleness, partnership, and transparency.

The Program Development Analyst will conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis in support of grantmaking and strategic partnerships, planning, and executing key projects; prepare clear and compelling presentation materials; and may be involved in the initial screening of potential grantees, preparing docket materials, and monitoring ongoing grants.
The James Irvine Foundation’s compensation philosophy is reflected in its Talent Advancement Program, which was created to assure equity in staff compensation. Every staff member is assigned a Tier based on demonstration of competencies, the Foundation looks to outcomes as criteria for advancement through the program’s Tiers.
We are hoping to make more than one Analyst hire. We expect to make offers at both the Tier I & Tier II levels.
In order to set a level playing field, we will let you know which Tier we are considering you for before an initial interview and we will not negotiate with any candidates.
The James Irvine Foundation offers an attractive benefits package, highlights include comprehensive insurance coverage, 5+ months of paid family leave for new parents, and a very generous 401K contribution (10%).
