Job Description
The University of Notre Dame Enterprises and Events (UEE) division is currently hiring for the position of Barista within the department of The Bookstore Cafe. The UEE division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives.
Why this position?
This position is responsible for preparing beverages, food and beverage displays, and welcoming, and serving Bookstore Cafe guests in accordance with UEE hospitality and brand standards, while maintaining the venues appearance and food and beverage productions are efficient and easy for guests to experience. The Barista will prepare beverages with efficiency and accuracy according to recipes, and brand standards while providing prompt, efficient, and courteous service to everyone, including all the elements of hospitality, such as anticipation, recognition, and responsiveness to the needs of others.

This position is with University Enterprises and Events at the University of Notre Dame and is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus (1/2 paid at 90 and 180 days of continuous employment). Candidates are only eligible if they are a new employee to the University – current Notre Dame employees who transfer are not eligible. Other rules and conditions apply.
Minimum Qualifications
1-6 months of related work experience
Competent food industry skills including use of equipment such as ovens, espresso/steamers, blenders, and knives, food safety practices, understands and can respond to HACCP, and the ability to read and follow recipes.Friendly, and personable with a variety of personality types, passionate about serving others and also coffee/tea beverages. Knowledgable of Coffee / Tea Brands and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Must obtain and retain an Indiana Alcohol Beverage Permit / license, and a Serve Safe certification.
