Job Summary
This position will be responsible for delivering instruction of credit and non-credit health sciences courses to high school and adult students. Must work within Midland College, Fort Stockton independent school district (FSISD), and regulatory agency guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Must possess a current license to practice in a health care occupation by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency
Minimum of three years of experience in related health care profession
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy
Proficient in computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word
Knowledge of general office equipment and equipment related to health care delivery
Strong organizational skills
Self-motivated
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, both orally and in writing
Interest in working in college and high school settings
Ability to work effectively as a member of the instructional team
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in a health science-related field
Current license as a vocational nurse (LVN) or registered nurse (RN) in the state of Texas
One year of working experience in a Long Term Care Facility (nursing home)
Experience teaching adult or adolescent students
Experience teaching health science material
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Essential Functions
Fulfill faculty roles and responsibilities as outlined in Midland College Policies and Administrative Regulations and as published in the Employee and Faculty Handbooks
Teach classes and labs with a lecture equivalent hour (LEH) requirement commensurate with the program curriculum each fall and spring semester
Coordinate and ensure the quality and currency of educational offerings under his/her supervision
Ensure compliance with requirements of state agencies and accrediting bodies, as applicable
Ensure accessibility of current guidelines, schedules, and syllabi
Ensure that departmental reports of student progress are submitted in a timely manner according to Midland College and ISD guidelines
Identify and request needed instructional resources
Demonstrate respect for the laboratory skills training environment including the care and maintenance of manikins and equipment and stewardship of supplies
Continually improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing a variety of instructional methodologies
Participate in program review and measurement of student learning outcomes
Ensure the accuracy of publications related to offerings under his/her supervision
Participate in promotional and recruitment activities at the WRTTC and in area communities
Act as the first point of contact for student issues
Maintain effective and timely oral and written communication with members of the department, the Dean of Health Sciences and/or Associate Dean of Health Sciences
Work cooperatively with staff and faculty at the WRTTC to promote a positive work environment
Maintain professional and effective working relationships with ISD personnel
Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Use of manual dexterity
Primarily indoor classroom, simulation laboratory, and community healthcare setting with common related body fluids present.
Employee will come in direct contact with Midland College staff, students, and the public
The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
The person in this position needs to frequently move or drive from office to other locations on and off campus
Some travel to multiple campuses and clinical sites is required

$69,779 per year
