The Department of Human Genetics is seeking an experienced professional to provide day-to-day support to the Genetic Counseling Program. This position will directly report to the Director and Associate Director of the Genetic Counseling Program and will be part of the broader administrative team within the Department.
This position provides administrative support related to recruitment, admissions, and matriculation, curriculum management (course evaluations and schedules), GCP event management, and the processing of GCP-related financial and student benefit transactions. This position regularly interacts with current and prospective graduate students, alumni, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders in the Medical School, University Departments, and outside of the University.
The successful candidate will have relevant student support and administrative experience working in a role requiring confidentiality, timeliness, customer service, organization, prioritization, troubleshooting, and working independently to successfully achieve results. They will also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities, be adaptable, and able to balance multiple and competing priorities.

The Department of Human Genetics (DHG) at Michigan Medicine is recognized as the first dedicated human genetics department in the United States and is one of nine basic science departments in the Medical School with primary missions of teaching and research devoted to advancing the fields of genetics and genomics to further our understanding of biology and human disease.
The Genetic Counseling Program (GCP), within the Department of Human Genetics, is an accredited Master’s program and one of the most well-established programs in the country, exemplifying a long history of innovation in clinical service and education in genetics and genomics. This program is one of three DHG graduate programs, which include a Ph.D. Program in Genetics and Genomics and a Master’s Program in Human Genetics. The GCP is a 2-year graduate program composed of classroom, clinical, and research training. Each class has 8-10 learners.

This is a 30 hour per week position. Specific hours are negotiable.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
