Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Business and Auxiliary Services will perform a variety of high-level budgeting and financial reporting responsibilities. The position will assist the CFO in preparation of the College budget, audit and financial reporting. In addition, this position is responsible for the student store and contracting with a food service vendor (Auxiliary Services).
Staff Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and two (2) years of accounting experience; supervisory experience, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- At least two (2) years’ experience with an accounting software package.
Desired Education/Experience/Skills:
- Prefer NC Community College experience, or experience with governmental accounting, or experience with Ellucian’s Colleague Database Management System.
- Prefer 5 years of accounting experience with supervisory experience.
- Prefer CPA or eligibility to obtain CPA licensure.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge in: Supervisory principles; Financial management principles, practices, and procedures; Budgeting principles; Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles; EAGLE internal control submission; Applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules, and regulations; Report preparation techniques

Duty and Responsibility:
1. Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

2. Ensures internal control processes are adequate to ensure the protection of college assets. Control activities will include monitoring and reviewing process and procedures for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll. Position responsible for EAGLE completion.

3. Maintains and reconciles a variety of ledgers, accounts and investments, including the general ledger; examines all accounting transactions to ensure accuracy; corrects financial records as necessary.

4. Coordinates the activities of the accounting function, which includes coordinating projects and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.

5. Prepares a variety of management fiscal and organizational reports; including ad-hoc reports; compiles, organizes and analyzes financial and statistical data.
