Posting Summary | Maintains accurate data in the online catalog; creates online brief, control, and check-in records; places holds for items borrowed from other libraries. Performs pre-cataloging and database searches; processes materials returned from cataloging; helps to resolve cataloging problems. Maintains check-in records and contacts vendors regarding claims. Locates and processes materials for reserve via online and manual systems and compiles statistics. Scans documents for posting as electronic reserve and documents requested via RRS for transmission to other libraries. At the reserve desk assists library patrons with problems and questions and provides instruction in the use of the online reserve database. Works at the circulation and/or information desks, as scheduled; provides assistance and/or instruction to library patrons in all circulation desk functions. Routinely resolves billing problems and collects fines from library patrons. Representing the local unit, participates in functional groups or work teams under the direction of the functional group or team leader. May lead, guide, and train students and other library assistants in all aspects of circulation, including charging, discharging, maintenance records, ordering replacements for missing books, recalls, and overdue notices. May take charge of the department or a smaller branch library during the night or weekend schedule. Performs related duties as required. |

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination. |

Minimum Education and Experience | Requires a high school/vocational school education and three years of general library, library-related, or clerical experience. Two years of college study and one year of library, database management, or information systems experience may be substituted for the three years of library experience requirement. Requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and multicultural work environment. Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats. Must have effective client service skills. Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds and push book trucks. May require specialist proficiencies and/or the ability to group lead. |
