A full time Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tom Seegar in the Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The incumbent will conduct, analyze and ensure that all research experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of the University of Cincinnati. The person filling this position will report directly to Dr. Tom Seegar and be responsible for conducting independent research within the scope of the lab, studying the structure and function of membrane proteases. Emphasis will be placed on the use of x-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy for structure determination. In addition, the candidate will use other biophysical approaches and cell-based assays to elucidate molecular function.
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D) in Biophysics, Biochemistry, or related field, or the recognized terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent.
Strong expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology techniques, in particular protein expression, purification and characterization.
