The Systems Administrator position focuses in the functional areas of Microsoft Windows Server and Enterprise Infrastructure components as needed by the Information Technology Services (ITS) department in delivering service and support to clients. Under general direction, this position performs a variety of technical duties by providing technical support including coordination, maintenance, upgrades and overall support for computer systems, administering ,evaluating and modifying systems to a sure proper security and operation, planning, coordinating and implementing system software program release changes for enterprise servers, resolving technology problems and providing for systems enhancements; providing technical support and assitance to clients.
The incumbent in this job is expected to assist the College in achieving its vision and mission. Customer focus, college service, and a willingness to assist as needed are expectation for all employees.
Staff Required Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED and 30 hours of completed college-level coursework in Information Technology or a related discipline; industry specific certification required if lacking Associate’s degree.
1 year of related work experience
Desired Education/Experience/Skills:
Associate’s degree in information technology and four (4) years of experience in area of assignment.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of network telecommunication, system administration, analysis, design and database management in terms of concepts, techniques and operating principles
Depending upon the operational needs of the department, basic to intermediate-level of knowledge and skills in the following areas:
Linux and UNIX-related server operating systems
Microsoft Active Director and intergration with disparate systems.
Network and LAN fundamentals, including network interface connection and user installation, network topologies, LAN administration, servers and network architecture.
Database-driven web applications.
Microsoft Office Suite software, third party systems accessed software via desktop client or web-based client
Internet Technology
Ability to operate, install, maintain, configuring and troubleshoot highly technical computers, local and wide area network equipment, servers.
Understanding of project management concepts.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Ability to efficiently manage time and organize work.
Ability to communicate clearly, verbal and written.
Ability to maintain a customer focus in providing technology services.
