About us: Horizon House of Illinois Valley, Inc., is a non-profit agency providing services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. We are located in north central Illinois. Horizon House has been serving the Starved Rock Country community for over 50 years! We are currently the 5th largest employer in La-Salle County with over 140 employees. We are an essential service provider member of the region, and we are always looking for new, friendly, upbeat employees to help educate and support people with intellectual disabilities to become a part of the community.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports to the Board of Directors of Horizon House of Illinois Valley, Inc. The position has overall operational responsibility for the planning, development, implementation and supervision of all agency activities and programs. The position recommends policies to the Board of Directors to achieve the agency's goals and establishes the structures to carry out those policies. The CEO ensures a strategic planning process is implemented, a plan is developed, and staff work towards achievement of its goals. The CEO exercises general supervision over the administration of the agency's business affairs and is the agency's chief administrative officer. The CEO represents and promotes Horizon House to the general community and to local, state and national funding bodies.
The successful candidate will possess leadership and critical thinking skills; demonstrate the ability to organize/prioritize on a daily basis to manage multiple priorities; possess excellent management and communication abilities; ability to effectively delegate and work as member of a management team; flexibility to periodically work different schedules; and uphold the agency vision, mission, values, and adhere to our code of ethics.
