Job Duties


  • The instructor is required to meet the standards/curriculum that they will teach.
  • Instructors shall also use the companion instructor's guide and workbook to prepare students to sit for exams and assessments.
  • Communicate effectively with students and those affiliated with the course.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach the course curriculum as outlined.
  • Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, quiz/assessment results, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation and interpersonal skills development.
  • Evaluate and document student progress through testing, observation, and assessing skills to determine whether each student has completed each course satisfactorily.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

 

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • Demonstrable instructional experience and dedication to student success.
  • One – two (1 – 2) years’ experience teaching ESL courses
  • At least one year of experience in lesson planning, lesson delivery, evaluation and/or remediation in a health care setting with experience gained in such positions as in-service coordinator, staff educator, or other health personnel.

  • Master’s Degree in related field required from an accredited educational institution.
  • Certification in TESOL/TEFL or equivalent
  • Two – four (2 – 4) years’ of experience teach ESL courses at a Community College.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
