Department Chair Business Administration/Operations ManagementAnnouncement Summary
Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this exempt department chair position. Duties
Assist the Dean with the following tasks for the benefit of the Business Administration/Operations Management department:
Teach courses for the Operations Management program to include Materials Management, Environmental Health & Safety, TQM, Operations and Production Planning, and the capstone course.
Recruit, identify, interview, select, and hire potential faculty to support program needs.
Provide training and support to new hires within the program.
Schedule and assign faculty instructors for all programmatic classes.
Determine budgetary needs within the department.
Develop, review, and recommend new or modified course outlines.
Suggest and review new course materials including textbooks, software, etc.
Maintain currency of instructional techniques and methods.
Ensure department and course materials are accessible.
Recruit and advise students, process student documentation, prepare reports and perform internal audits.
Monitor and improve student retention.
Perform other duties as explained in the job description for Department Chairs in the Organization Handbook.
Comply with instructional responsibilities, as explained in the job description for instructional faculty, including:
Teach face-to-face, online, virtual and blended classes to include days, evenings, and weekends both on and off campus as needed by the program.
Incorporate latest instructional technologies in course delivery and utilize interactive learning technologies to engage students in the teaching and learning process.
Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff and the community.
Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or closely related discipline. One or more years of experience in operations management.
Communication, both oral and written, skills necessary. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Preferred Requirements
Online teaching experience. Two or more years of experience in an operations management position preferably in a production or distribution related business.
