Class Description
Teach courses in American Sign Language, Consecutive, Interactive, and Simultaneous Interpreting, as well as other courses related to Deaf Interpreting. Teach courses online, face-to-face and/or evening classes. Faculty teach 15 credits per semester, hold five office hours per week, serve the college through committee and other service, and continue to enhance their skills and knowledge through professional development. Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree plus RID or ASLTA credentials required; CDI certification preferred. A minimum of four years professional interpreting or teaching experience; documented evidence of effective teaching in the ASL/interpreting field; extensive knowledge of Deaf culture and the Deaf community with the ability to interact effectively with both Deaf and hearing people; evidence of meaningful contributions to professional organizations. Qualified applicants will complete background and reference checks.
