Serve as member of the Villanova School of Business (VSB) O’Donnell Center for Professional Development and Clay Center, assisting with experiential education efforts and the development of corporate relationships that serve the needs of business students. Manage VSB’S academic internship courses and serve as ambassador for student participation in externships, internships, and Co-Op programs as a critical element of their holistic academic experience. Collaborate with VSB entities, University Career Center (UCC), and other campus partners to develop employer relationships. Contribute to the execution of the O’Donnell Center’s broad of professional development resources/services, including career programming, curriculum initiatives, and student leadership development.
EMPLOYER OUTREACH/DEVELOPMENT: Collaborate with the O’Donnell Center team, VSB faculty and academic center directors, VSB Deans, University Advancement, Alumni Office, and University Career Center (UCC) to develop employer partnerships. Assist VSB academic centers with corporate development efforts. Pursue employer referrals/inquiries; facilitate connections between employers and VSB/VU parties, as appropriate. Serve as relationship manager for employer involvement in initiatives such as the Senior Job Meetup, Account events, Bartley Takeovers, Spring Accounting Internship (SAI) Program, etc.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS MANAGEMENT: Manage academic internship programs (semester-based and Spring Accounting Internship programs), including marketing of opportunities, recruiting and preparation of program participants, and faculty approval process. Coach students individually and in groups on internship search and preparation processes, as well as in regard to meeting the requirements for academic internships and fulfilling employer and faculty expectations.
EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION INITIATIVES: Serve as ambassador for experiential education among undergraduate business students; educate VSB community on the significance of externships/internships/Co-Ops in increasing students’ opportunities for professional success upon graduation. Initiatives will include conducting a wide-array of student outreach efforts, development of collateral materials, delivery of an internship/Co-Op education series, classroom presentations, and implementation of promotional campaigns. Act as VSB’s primary point of contact regarding Handshake, Villanova’s campus career management portal.
KNOWLEDGE & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Awareness of business curriculum as it relates to employer interest in VSB students’ and students’ eligibility for internship/job opportunities. Use career/industry trend info to coach students and enhance understanding of employer needs and relationship development. Be knowledgeable about VSB students’ internship/Co-Op interests in regard to career paths, geographic, industry and/or company preferences.
ODC/CLAY CENTER-WIDE EFFORTS Contribute to O’Donnell Center for Professional Development team and Clay Center initiatives, including the execution of the Backpack to Briefcase Program and Professional Success professional development curriculum, pilot PCAAT (Professional Coaching & Academic Advising Team), etc.
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Master’s degree preferred or in progress.
