Overview

The QA/QC Team lead is responsible for the overall Quality Control of deliverables prepared by the Field Engineering and Gas Design departments. Focusing on developing plan of actions to meet internal and external client quality expectations related to documents for polyethylene and steel Natural Gas pipeline systems that depict the installation, removal, and modification of gas facilities up to 400PSIG, and the physical location of distribution electrical underground and overhead facilities. Providing high-quality solutions and recommendations to natural gas utilities and pipeline operators by reviewing and validating related construction drawings.

Responsibilities
    Review and certify department deliverables to achieve the highest quality to meet andor exceed industry design standards.
  • Interpret current related Natural Gas Design and construction standards to approve existing and/or proposed pipeline alignments.
  • Examine Natural Gas Designs for installation, retrofit, renewals and other related system improvements.
  • Generate pipeline alignments using available field details, client mapping documentations, and other existing utility records.
  • Explore alternative pipeline positions if current design does not meet expectations, standards, and specifications for construction.
  • Field research underground and overhead utilities to transcribe real position.
  • Certify proposed alignments by fielding and proving separation requirements from existing utilities and structures.
  • Review and validate field sketches related to overhead wire position, houseline plumbing plans, and any related exhibits required for planning, designing, and constructing of natural gas pipelines.
  • Validate Construction As-Builts and other Mapping construction documents for accuracy.
  • Develop, use, and or edit internal and external quality control checklist and other related QA/QC forms.
  • Aid in the utility locating and mapping of subsurface and above ground wet and dry utilities.
  • Interpret Wet and Dry utility documents and standards to aid in the design and to avoid conflicts with construction of natural gas pipelines.
  • Examine and approve internal and external Natural Gas Designs for installation, retrofit, renewals and other related system improvements to assure standards and required specifications are met.
  • Perform plan checks to verify potential conflicts between existing and proposed natural gas pipelines and proposed Buildings, structures, grading, landscaping, street improvements, wet and dry utilities, and other appurtenances that conflict with utility separation requirements.
  • Review, and validate constructability plan findings and engineering suggestions.
  • Interpret Potholing Reports for design.
  • Visualize the project installation and provide quality control recommendations for practicality and constructibility of natural gas designs.
  • Prepare quality review findings and recommendations based on direction provided by department group managers.
  • Maintain excellent project communication between project stakeholders and with continuously changing tools and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge in the properties and characteristics of Natural Gas
  • Understanding of current natural gas industry design and construction standards.
  • Familiar with codes, standards, and related materials with Natural Gas systems.
  • Understanding in Gas pipeline terms and definitions.
  • 5 Years of AutoCAD or MicroStation Utility Drafting Experience.
  • 5 Years of Construction improvement plan review and/or interpretation.
  • 5 Years or equivalent in design of natural gas pipeline projects, plan/profile, and detailed piping drawings from 60 PSIG to 400 PSIG.
  • 5 years of Field Engineering experience, staking for construction, field utility mark-out, and other related pre and post construction tasks.
  • 5 years of Utility Locating using industry locating tools.
  • Previous Equivalent work in Natural Gas planning, design, field-engineering, construction, and other related environments.
  • Previous Design experience of subdivisions, developments, commercial/industrial natural gas projects and gas design standards.
  • Reading and understanding of maps, plat maps, as-built, construction drawings and gas service records for existing and proposed improvements.
  • Use of MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related office tools.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD Civil3D. ArcGIS (Geographic information systems) understanding preferred.
  • Prior experience with 3D Modeling in Aveva or Plant 3D.
  • Previous traffic control related requirements and standards.
  • Understanding of the One-Call 811 Mark-Out System.
  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge in the properties and characteristics of Natural Gas.

  • Must be a self-starter and work independently with conflicting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD, SAP, Procore, Graphic information systems,
  • Ability to provide clear and constructive peer reviews and suggestions.

  • Meet required deadlines and exceed client expectations.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Must have strong Time Management skills.
  • Ability to mentor internal and external clients.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new design software, standards, and construction requirements.

The pay range for this California position is $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
