A Project Manager II is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the design and construction of power delivery projects. The candidate must work with a team to secure, manage, and deliver projects from both new and existing clients. The ideal candidate should have leadership experience in the field or a relevant specialty, demonstrate the ability to understand engineering concepts applicable to the job area, and have an interest in continuous learning.

Responsibilities
    The candidate should manage the scope, schedule, and budget of individual projects, work with a matrixed team to provide tasks and deliverables on time, and provide clear direction to the design team when needed.
  • Monitor KPIs, critical path, and issues management.
  • Provide project analysis and metrics for individual projects, be the primary point of contact for internal peers, and manage construction, procurement, invoice preparation, and project documentation.
  • Continuously build and maintain a network of third-party consultants and vendors, lead project acquisition efforts, and demonstrate a working knowledge of client and industry standards related to design and construction.
  • Create appropriate documentation for change orders and have the ability to negotiate solutions to client concerns or project overages.
Qualifications

To be considered for the position:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, construction management, or a relevant field, or equivalent training and experience.
  • At least six years of work in a relevant field and position, managing complex technical and/or civil projects, and a PE for transmission, civil, or substation specialists.
  • PMP certification for distribution or transmission specialists is also required, along with strong skills in MS Office, a positive attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
  • Desired qualifications include PMP certification for substation specialists; a PE license for distribution or space specialists;
  • Master's degree in engineering or a related science, business, or organizational management; working knowledge of client and industry design and construction standards
  • Experience in public utility design and construction, natural gas pipelines, water/sewer infrastructure, or electric distribution overhead and underground infrastructure.
  • The evaluation of the Project Manager II is based, in part, on the timely, accurate completion of work.

The pay range for this California position is $120,000.00- $140,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
