We are looking for an experienced Senior Transportation Engineer who is self-motivated and interested in joining our team of dynamic professionals. The candidate should be a team player, self-motivated, energetic and goal-oriented, interested in an opportunity to grow and lead a dynamic team. Engineers in this role plan and conduct work that requires keen judgement and can devise new approaches to solve design problems and oversee assigned projects. They are increasingly well-versed in leading engineering teams in planning, engineering, design, construction and transportation industry consulting on complex projects for local and state clients.

Engineers at this level are actively involved in the process of bringing in work for the firm. They plan, schedule, and conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the work. Senior Engineers perform work that may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials or methods, and difficult coordination requirements. This position requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of related specialties.

Responsibilities
    Develop and maintain client relationships; Interact with clients in all aspects of project delivery
  • Participate in business development activities, including preparation of proposals, capture planning, client meetings, and participation in professional organizations
  • Lead the development of projects from inception to completion by defining scope, schedule and budget in alignment with client strategic goals
  • Provide ongoing engineering review and evaluation of designs for compliance with criteria, standards, and specifications on each project
  • Be responsive and proactive, managing engineering activities to comply with budgets and schedules; identify departures or issues early to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule
  • Review and monitor design and construction document preparation from concept design through final completion, including review of change-management documents
  • Create and maintain, or monitor, comprehensive project documentation
  • Coordinate all design work with other team disciplines
  • Participate in training and mentoring staff as appropriate
  • Attend client/project meetings and present at public hearings
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A minimum of 10 years of civil engineering experience
  • Desire and ability to manage and mentor staff
  • Strong skills in developing and securing new work, including proposals
  • Software: AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred, basic Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, Outlook skills
  • Project related travel will be required.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Currently licensed as a PE (Professional Engineer) in California or commitment to obtain reciprocity for PE in California within six months of hire.

The pay range for this California position is $135,000.00- $165,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
