POSITION SUMMARY:
Fordham University’s Multimedia Producer creates multimedia content for the University website and social media channels in support of the University’s strategic enrollment and fundraising goals. Reporting to the Director of Creative
Services, the Multimedia Producer will be part of a talented in-house creative team who specializes in strategic problem solving and storytelling across media platforms.
The ideal candidate is a creative, innovative individual who actively pursues engaging ways to tell the Fordham story for multiple audiences on multiple platforms for various University clients. Projects can range from full-scale production to editing to motion graphics and include materials for campus displays, event promotion, fundraising campaigns, media pitches, web sites, social media initiatives, and other channels and platforms. The candidate is expected to deliver high quality work that addresses the needs of the University and its departments, demonstrate a great amount of flexibility, and work in a deadline-driven environment on several projects at once.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create compelling and inspiring video content to engage prospective students, current students, alumni, and donors, as well as increase the reputation of the University
- Work with other content creators within University Marketing and Communications, including writers, designers, and account managers, collaborating on concept development, through to implementation, delivering finished product for University clients on multiple platforms/channels
- Shoot and edit videos and sound projects of varying lengths
- Execute pre-production responsibilities such as creating storyboards, reviewing scripts, scouting film shoot locations, and securing props
- Execute post-production responsibilities such as creating motion graphics, inserting video captioning, and packaging video for different platforms
- Color grade, stabilize, and professionally polish clips as needed
- Coordinate and oversee multimedia content from external vendors and freelancers
- Maintain, reserve, and rent equipment
- Maintain appropriate licensing rights for use of music and other intellectual property
- Assist the department in maintaining ADA compliance
- Organize and maintain a video library of finished videos, as well as b-roll and archival footage
- Hire and supervise freelance assistance as appropriate and when budget allows
- Be available occasionally evenings and weekends and have an appreciation of a campus calendar that operates outside of 9-5 business hours
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3 - 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, media arts, multimedia production or a related field
- Experience in planning, executing, and editing video according to brand standards and demonstrated success in creating videos with measurable audience engagement
- Experience capturing/importing media, organizing raw media, editing footage and sound files, creating, and inserting static and motion graphics, closed captioning, adding music/voice over, media management and archiving project media
- Experience in lighting sets especially for indoor shoots
- Experience with basic organizational web tools: Google Drive (preferable), email managers, video conference programs, and calendars
- In-depth knowledge of pre-production/planning, storyboarding, studio and field production, lighting/grip, audio engineering, video composition, and video compression for multiple delivery platforms
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere CC, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop, and other motion graphics technology
- Strong understanding of web and social media platforms, audience preferences, and effective video marketing strategies on each platform
- Knowledge of new industry technological advances, software, and equipment
- Administrative and project management skills to maintain digital assets, schedules, and equipment
- Proficiency in shooting still photos in a variety of settings
- Ability to work quickly and under pressure with multiple deadlines
- Strong eye for detail and ability to work autonomously and as a team member
- Ability to communicate with diverse professionals in a positive, caring, and collegial manner
