Job Summary

The senior graphic designer is a lead graphic designer who supervises the work of other graphic designers, mentoring and guiding them in creating and executing fresh designs. The senior graphic designer takes responsibility of brand oversight, and is also in charge of brand creative assets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Creates new and original designs from scratch for brands based on client specification, needs and brand image.
• Provides graphic design and layout for print, web and video promotional materials including (but not limited to) posters, fliers, brochures, banners and digital graphics.
• Supervises projects to ensure that all materials ordered arrive in agreed upon time and are in good shape to obtain maximum results.
• Creates and maintain files for all creative assets and resources, such as software, art materials, and special fonts, which are needed for record keeping and referencing.
• Evaluates and manage production resources to enhance high productivity and allocations.
• Facilitates product campaigns and marketing via emails, microsites and other landing pages to boost client to customer interactions.
• Collaborates with other members of the graphic design team to maximize creativity and excellence in performance and delivery.
• Supervises and mentor design staff on project execution, and submit performance report on assigned projects to the executives for appraisal.
• An understanding of and strong commitment to the mission of Texas Southmost College.
• Supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College’s Strategic Plan.
• Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies and guidelines.
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Texas Southmost College.
• Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers.
• Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the functional unit and provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty and community.
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
• Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Creative with the ability to make designs from scratch.
• Expert knowledge of corporate branding, digital media and color theory.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, and other design software programs.
• Demonstrated history in meeting job deadlines in due time, ensuring that a quality job is done.
• Ability to imbibe good time management and multi-tasking skills in executing projects.
• Good managerial skills to carry other team members along.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students, College employees and the public.
• Ability to perform independently, take initiative and follow through with assignments.
• Skill in working effectively in a team environment with a customer service focus.
• Demonstrated organizational skills in handling, directing and prioritizing multiple and complex assignments and projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
• Proficient with the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
• Problem solving skills and the ability to lead, instruct, handle a large variety of details and to work with all levels of organization.
• Performs duties and responsibilities within a high-tech digital environment.

Required Education and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in graphic design, visual/media arts or a related field or four (4) years work experience as a graphic designer
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working with Graphic Design Team Management.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience working in a team-oriented environment with other content creators, designers and editors.
• Experience in project management, advertisement strategies and higher education marketing.
• Advanced expertise/skills using Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
