This position reports to the Dean, Division of Business, Technology & Public Service.


Annual renewable 12-month appointment.


The Assistant Dean has direct oversight of programs in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology as well as Information Technology. The Assistant Dean provides program-level leadership to cross-functional program faculty using in-depth knowledge of the College's mission, goals, and vision, and is responsible for program performance outcomes including student success. The Assistant Dean provides leadership in the design of program curricula and learning experiences, as well as faculty training and support


  • Drives innovation in learning, programs, certificates and courses in Engineering Technology and Information Technology.

  • Develops courses, majors, certificates, and programs through needs analysis, curriculum development, institutional and external approval, and articulation of credit with senior institutions.

  • Seeks new partnerships in industry and stays abreast of industry trends in related areas.

  • Works closely with Workforce Development and Innovation to create new credit and non-credit offerings for industry and community.

  • Provides daily supervision to program and department faculty and staff.

  • Manages all related departmental budgets

  • Ensures the integrity, excellence, reputation, and continuous improvement or a portfolio of educational programs through leadership, influence, innovation, partnerships, and the advancement of the disciplines.

  • Provides student support and instruction as needed.

  • Works with the Division Dean to market programs to the general public; promotes programs and/or majors to the community.

  • Is responsible for related programmatic accreditation/approvals.

  • Performs and manages the duties associated with academic assessment of courses and programs.

  • Performs comprehensive curriculum review of programs and majors.

  • Assumes accountability for adequate enrollment in program and majors.

  • Evaluates candidates for full-time and part-time employment as faculty members and makes staffing recommendations to the Division Dean.

  • Manages departmental operations including employment paperwork, purchasing requests, equipment inventory, catalog information, course scheduling, attendance tracking, student advising, classroom and lab use, and curricular and classroom disputes.

  • Assists Division leadership in securing external funding sources.

  • Reviews student requests for experiential credit.

  • Facilitates departmental and programmatic outreach by leading advisory committees associated with programs

  • Promotes a culture of inclusive and support for diverse faculty and students.

  • Maintains personal professional development and fosters the development of program faculty and staff.

  • Coordinates with initiatives such as Tech Prep and College Credit Plus (dual credit offerings).

  • Assists the Dean with Divisional initiatives.

  • Serves on institution-wide initiatives and committees.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Conducts performance evaluations and develops improvement plans for program and department faculty members.


  • A Master's degree in engineering, engineering technology, information technology, computer science, network and security, data analytics or related field.

  • Three years college teaching excellence or equivalent is required with two-year college teaching experience preferred.

  • Previous experience fulfilling duties associated with coordination of an academic program or oversight of an academic major is preferred.

  • Current industry certifications (as appropriate) are necessary for the successful candidate.

  • A minimum of three years of industry working experience.

  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience leading change and driving innovation.

  • An appreciation for and understanding of the two-year college mission is a must.

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide daily supervision to program faculty, manage resources, and organize activities to maximize the learning experience for students.

  • Ability to make and drive changes across the department.

  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Familiarity with alternate modes of instruction as well as administrative and instructional software packages is desirable.
