Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design seeks qualified applicants for the position of Adjunct Faculty of Humanities and Social + Behavioral Sciences to teach the History of American Capitalism as well as Introduction to Economics. RMCAD is an innovative, rigorous, and community-oriented global learning environment that inspires passion for critical thinking and prepares learners to be forces of change in the creative industries, our communities and the world. We are located in the west suburb of Denver. The Liberal Arts Department has core full-time Humanities professor, a hybrid AH/Humanities professor, a Composition/English professor, and two vacancies for Art History. We also have a large pool of adjuncts. The college is on a beautiful 100-year-old campus that was originally built as a tuberculosis hospital (Jewish Consumptive Relief Society). The college is accredited by Higher Learning Commission and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers degrees in Applied and Fine Arts.

 

The Liberal Arts Department at RMCAD is committed to promoting academic excellence through rigorous and engaged pedagogical practices. Through our own professional development, as academics and educators, Liberal Arts provides the necessary skills for artists to develop as professionals, engaged citizens, and actualized human beings prepared to flourish in a complex global world. Students in Liberal Arts engage in a variety of academic disciplines that emphasize the skills necessary for informed, meaningful, and effective writing and the capacity to think critically about their lives, their work, and the larger world.

 

The successful candidate will teach on-campus and online courses that are integral to the major programs of study. Additionally, the candidate will assist with curriculum development and college service as needed. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Instructional Activities: the practice and art of teaching, including evaluation by students, supervisor(s), and self. Faculty must also comply with all administrative and classroom management policies, procedures and instructional deadlines. 

  • Record class attendance in Faculty Portal and submit midterm/final grades by the due date specified.

  • Provide timely and periodic feedback to students on assignments and participation. This includes discussion board posts, as well as meaningful feedback within the learning management system. 

  • Attend required training sessions and departmental meetings. 

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Master degree in a related discipline (PhD preferred)

  • Must reside in California, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, or Virginia

  • Official Transcripts must be received before on-boarding.
