DESCRIPTION:   The College has a need to hire a part-time temporary custodial position at the main campus.  This position will sweep, mop, vacuum floors and carpets; empty trash; clean, sanitize and disinfect restrooms, lunchrooms, and drinking fountains; dust and clean furniture, blinds, windows and equipment; and perform other duties associated with the maintenance of a building. This position will require moving objects to perform tasks, including trash, furniture, equipment, and supplies. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be physically able to do custodial work.  (See Physical Work Environment statement below.)
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Custodial experience.
  • Ability to work with college staff in a pleasant and productive manner.
  • Experience with large institution custodial standards and requirements.
  • Knowledge of cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Self-discipline, self-motivation.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position generally works alone, but will have contact with college staff, students and the general public.  Work is performed inside a building.  It is essential to be able to stand and walk for long periods of time; to bend and reach; and to lift, pull or push objects weighing up to 50 pounds.  Position is expected to perform duties in a safe manner. It is occasionally necessary to climb ladders.  There is exposure to cleaning chemicals and dust.  Communicating in English enough to understand verbal and written instructions is required.
 
HOURLY RATE AND WORK SCHEDULE:
$14.00 per hour.  Schedule is up to 16.5 hours per week. All work is performed in the evening, with a 6:00 pm or later start time.
