Basic Function and Scope of Job
Summary: The Adjunct Faculty, Ageno School of Business conducts university instruction for students in the Ageno School of Business by performing the duties outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Meet the course objective which includes:
Teaching using assigned textbook readings, case study analyses, group discussions, written assignments, oral presentations, and individual research. Ensuring that students are able to:
Articulate the key concepts of software engineering from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
Identify and describe the major components of enterprise software.
Describe the ranking/selection process for software projects within a governance structure.
Understand how to evaluate a potential software engineering opportunity via a feasibility study, business case, build vs. buy, open source vs. proprietary, and weighting models.
Describe the most popular development methodologies and processes for software development, including where they are most appropriately used.
Articulate the organizational issues associated with software engineering including stakeholder management, team structures, outsourcing, and SME's.
Demonstrate understanding of software testing and apply to creating a test plan.
Explain the importance and implications of risk, quality, and change management.
Explain SOA, SaaS, and PaaS.
Describe the elements of software management and evolution including configuration management, software upgrades, software maintenance, software release and retirement.
Apply concepts learned in the completion of a term research project.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
Education and/or Experience: A minimum requirement of a Master's Degree required. 2+ years of related experience preferred. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
This is a 15 week course with a portion in class and a portion online. The ability to set office hours either in person, by phone, or online is desirable.
