Purpose of Position
 

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics invites applicants for a full-time non-tenure track renewable position primarily supporting online education. Although online instruction is the focus, it is not a remote position and requires a presence on campus.

Interested applicants should submit the following:

  • an application letter.

  • curriculum vitae.

  • a statement/letter of teaching philosophy, specifically addressing (1) experience and philosophy for the online teaching environment, and (2) your personal philosophy on diversity and inclusion, and why they are important in higher education.

  • unofficial transcript(s).

  • email addresses for at least 2 references who will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation; at least one of these should address teaching experience and/or potential for success in an online environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Teach approximately 12 contact hours of introductory level courses per semester, a significant portion of which are offered in an online setting.

  2. Develop/Revise online, introductory level courses.

  3. Explore and participate in relevant professional development opportunities through Center for Innovation and Technology in Education (CITE) and Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

  4. Manage personnel (e.g. teaching assistants, online coaches) supporting the implementation of large enrollment courses, especially in the online environment.

  5. Serve as course coordinator for introductory level courses as needed.

  6. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education or a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in mathematics/statistics.

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching; preference for experience in successful online course delivery.

  • Must be detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
