Position Summary

The Anderson School of Management (ASM) is seeking an experienced, technologically savvy academic advisor to fill the position of Senior Academic Advisor for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Managed Online Program, which is a degree completion program with online course offerings every eight weeks. 

This position will work in-person and in a virtual environment with students from around the country, including many who are juggling demanding careers and family life. A high-touch approach to advising will be required to ensure that students are optimizing their academic success.

This individual will be responsible for providing academic advisement, guidance and progress-tracking for meeting program milestones for incoming and continuing students. They will assist in recruiting activities to attract new students and coordinate outreach and orientation. They will also provide support in the development, implementation and marketing of programs and should be comfortable using web conferencing software. 

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of producing high-quality results, successfully maintaining progress across multiple projects and deadlines, working efficiently with minimal supervision, and adapting to changing priorities.  This person will be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as evidenced by the applicant’s cover letter and resume.  This dynamic individual will demonstrate excellence in customer service and the ability to work with a variety of students, faculty, staff and members of the business community in order to promote student success and align with the vision and mission of ASM and UNM

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of/with:

UNM Core Curriculum and Anderson Pre-Admission requirements, undergraduate degree program requirements, and New Mexico Articulation policies.

Experience with/in:

Evaluating and reviewing transcripts from a variety of institutions around the country.

Effective written and communication skills as demonstrated in applicant cover letter, resume, and writing sample.

Presentation skills.  Outreach, recruitment, orientation, and retention program implementation skills.

Organizing and coordinating web based learning workshops.

Academic advisement, program coordination.

Must be able to travel and work some evenings and weekends.

Excellent customer service and technical data skills.

Demonstrated skills in multitasking, problem solving, and analyzing program, university, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements.
