Postdoctoral Research Associate - Department of Mathematics- 11510

Description

The Department of Mathematics at West Virginia University invites applications for three full-time postdoctoral positions to begin August 2019. Initial appointments will be made for two years, renewable for a 3rd year in exceptPoional cases. We seek scholars in each of the following areas: applied mathematics, mathematics education and foundations/algebra/topology. 

The Department of Mathematics includes 25 tenured and tenure-track faculty, two current postdoctoral researchers, and about 65 graduate students. West Virginia University is a land grant institution enrolling over 29,000 students and has a Carnegie Classification of Highest Research Activity. The University is located in Morgantown, WV, an award-winning "small" city with a metropolitan population of about 100,000 within easy travel distance of Pittsburgh and Washington, DC. 

Qualifications

The positions require a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a closely related field earned within the past 5 years, evidence of excellent research and teaching ability and to establish research collaborations with current Department faculty members (https://www.math.wvu.edu/research_interests) and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates are expected to contribute to teaching in the calculus sequence, with a teaching load of two courses per semester and will have access to professional development opportunities including funding for travel to professional meetings.
