Job Overview

The Associate Vice President for Academic Partnerships will be responsible for day-to-day liaison and collaboration between Drexel University Online and Drexel University's colleges, academic committees and academic departments. The ideal candidate will collaborate with appropriate academic and business stakeholders to develop strategies and tactics to increase enrollment and revenue, improve student success and optimize the user experience throughout the learning lifecycle. The Associate Vice President is an entrepreneurial administrator responsible for upholding the highest academic standards, for facilitating growth of online students, communicating daily with colleges and academic departments to remove barriers to admission, recruitment, enrollment, and retention.

The Associate Vice President is responsible for working with colleges to increase online academic programs and advocating for efficient academic processes and timely decisions. The Associate Vice President is responsible for activities, processes and systems linkages/liaison functions internally and externally related to articulation and instructional partnerships between postsecondary institutions. Collaboration with faculty and staff to ensure academic programs, course transfer and degree completion programs is essential while also supporting student academic and career goals. Evaluation of curriculum to determine course and program equivalencies, while staying abreast of curricular changes is required. 

The Associate Vice President provides leadership and direction to develop and monitor instructional pathways, articulation agreements and memoranda of understanding, expands outreach and identifies articulation opportunities with four-year institutions and evaluates the efficacy of proposed College articulations. The Associate Vice President facilitates faculty discussion, articulation agreements and develops a process for on-going review to ensure accuracy through new program opportunities.

The Associate Vice President is responsible for supporting colleagues to influence online student enrollment growth, retention and revenue. The Associate Vice President will partner with Associate Deans, Program Directors and Administration to implement and oversee strategically driven practices to create meaningful and sustaining relationships in support of Drexel University Online's mission. The Associate Vice President is responsible for monitoring federal policies impacting online teaching and learning as well as ensuring compliance with all state online program licensing regulations and SARA reciprocity agreements.

The AVP for Academic Partnerships will play a vital role in evaluating the online compliance with Middle States Accreditation requirements, monitoring progress toward compliance, and assisting in the preparation of the self-study for re-accreditation.

This position reports to the President of Drexel University Online and serves on the executive committee of Drexel University Online. This individual is responsible for building relationships across departments, colleges and businesses on behalf of the online students and serves on committees and task forces to promote the growth of online programs and the success of online students. This position works within the guidelines, policies and mission of the university and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as needed. This position serves as administrative coordinator of the Online Learning Council and corresponding subcommittees.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in related field from a regionally accredited university required.

  • Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership responsibilities, preferably in higher education. Preferably five years' work experience in online education.

  • High energy, results-oriented academic professional with a demonstrated track record of new program development and enrollment growth.

  • Successful experience developing activities and campaigns designed to improve student retention.

  • Excellent communication skills, exemplified by a commitment to developing meaningful and value-added relationships with academic, administrative and institutional leaders.

  • Ability to strategically plan and serve as a catalyst for organizational change, cultivate a shared vision with others, and motivate others to transfer vision into action.

  • Excellent presentation skills in a professional and business environment.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, student-focused, growth-oriented, metrics driven academic environment.

  • Experience working with multiple external and internal stakeholders. Ability to interact with professionals of all disciplines.

  • Proven track record of engaging and contributing to larger organizational plans and goals such as enrollment growth and retention beyond the confines of typical position-related functions.

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.

  • Ability to work independently and as a positive, professional role model, mentor and team member

  • Attention to detail, strong administrative skills, efficiency, and strong follow-up skills.

  • Experience working with faculty and staff in a professional, respectful and consistently collaborative manner.

  • Work on special projects and initiatives as defined by the President.

  • Prior experience either teaching or learning in an online environment preferred.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving and collaboration skills required.

  • Current computer and office management skills required.

  • This individual must demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, ethics and management efficiency.

  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekend requirements. Some travel may be required.

  • Must maintain a culture of academic innovation and excellence. Must value and respect the unique and important contributions of every faculty member and staff member.

  • An understanding of how academic programs of study would benefit corporations, associations, government agencies, and internal departments.

  • An ability to effectively communicate and convey a professional image to corporations, associations, government agencies, and internal departments.

  • Active participation in higher education accreditation processes, articulation processes, and program review.

  • Experience working at a community college and/or with the community.

  • Knowledge of academic health care programs is an added value.

Essential Functions

The Associate Vice President for Academic Partnerships position requires a positive, goal-oriented, high-energy, collaborative and influential academic leader who is committed to maintaining the university's academic standards, dedicated to online student recruitment and ensuring student success. This individual partners with academic departments and colleges to identify, launch, promote and grow programs for online students and ensure the academic accuracy and academic catalogue compliance of online marketing messaging, marketing collateral and digital content. This position is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of and communicating regional accreditation and national standards for online education delivery and quality as well as recommending content for faculty training to teach online and monitoring online course compliance with university, ADA and accreditation standards. This position serves as the academic advisor for the Drexel University Online enrollment managers, marketers and business development teams.

Furthermore, this position supports the Drexel University Online President for the online learning academic initiatives at the university and monitors online student retention challenges and advocates for services needed. This position is responsible for monitoring all admission requirements, academic online program approvals and recommending changes where appropriate. In collaboration with other members of the senior management team, this position will assist in developing the strategic direction for Drexel University Online.

The Associate Vice President will oversee the state licensure compliance requirements to ensure strict adherence of federal and state regulations. This individual must have the ability to manage special projects as assigned annually.
