Title: Mathematics Faculty

Position Summary:

The Mathematics faculty member will perform instructional duties and related activities. Faculty members generally teach 30 credit hours annually (15 credits each fall and spring semester). Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery (e.g. hybrid, online, or accelerated); some weekend/evening teaching may be required. Face-to-face and hybrid courses may be scheduled at ACC's Littleton Campus, Parker Campus, and/or Castle Rock Campus. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; performing advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; performing student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, school, and College meetings and functions. Every ACC faculty and staff member is expected to participate in the assessment process of the College, utilizing the results of assessment for continuous institutional improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, or higher, in mathematics or related field, from an accredited institution OR master's degree plus 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics, from an accredited institution.

  • Postsecondary instructional experience.

  • Demonstrated competency with multiple instructional delivery methods (for example: online, web-enhanced and face to face).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success building professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.

  • Experience teaching calculus and other upper level mathematics courses.

  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as a member of a collaborative team.

  • Understanding of adult learning theory concepts; ability to utilize these principles effectively in the learning environment.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

  • Minimum of 120 semester hours of mathematics teaching experience with upper level STEM transfer courses.

  • Participation in professional mathematical organizations.

  • Experience integrating technology into courses.

  • Familiarity with current trends in mathematics education, including iPads.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy, role and mission of Arapahoe Community College.

  • Experience with STEM mathematics education trends, curriculum and teaching methods.

  • Experience and/or willingness to teach and support Math learning across the entire curriculum.

Advertised Salary Range: Salary range for this position is $59,164 to $69,275, commensurate within this range based on education and experience. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA exempt position. The salary for this position is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August - May). The projected start date for this position is August 12, 2019, salary will be prorated based on the number of contract days worked.
