We are interested in filling a postdoctoral level position in the Nonlinear Optical Materials Characterization Laboratory of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate/Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH. AFRL develops nonlinear absorbing materials used in photonic applications specific to the US Air Force.
The position requires a self-motivated, hard-working, and trainable individual who will be responsible for the development and characterization of nonlinear optical materials. The successful candidate must have experience in organic synthesis, polymer synthesis, or materials science. The group also utilizes various spectroscopic techniques including, UV/Vis spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, spectroelectrochemisty, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence, femtosecond pump probe spectroscopy and nanosecond laser flash photolysis. A background in physical chemistry/photochemistry is preferred.
The appointment would be as an onsite contractor with GDIT for a period of up to 2 years working in the Air Force Research Laboratories.
Education: A Ph.D. in chemistry, polymer science, or materials science is required.
